Political career of Girish Bapat
Bapat first entered politics by working for the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh. In 1980, he was appointed secretary of the BJP in Pune City.
He got three more terms after first being elected to the Pune Municipal Corporation in a by-election in 1983.
In 1986-1987, he was elected to head the Standing Committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation. In 1995, he won his first election to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
He was elected as Krishna Valley Development Corporation’s director in 1997. He was elected to represent Pune in the Lok Sabha in the 2019 general elections.
