News spread that Sheikh Yasser Al-Dosari was exempted from the leadership of the Grand Mosque in Ramadan, after the list of imams of the Grand Mosque in Mecca for Tahajjud and Tarawih prayers in the month of Ramadan 2024 was issued, as Sheikh Yasser Al-Dosari’s name did not appear on the list.
Social media users indicated that the reason for his not being on the list of the Grand Mosque in Mecca during Ramadan is the expiration of his assignment period, but the accuracy of this information has not been confirmed.
The list of imams of the Grand Mosque in Mecca for Tahajjud and Tarawih prayers in Ramadan 2024 included Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, Sheikh Maher Al-Muaiqly, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Juhani, and Sheikh Bandar Balila.
In fact, Sheikh Yasser Al-Dosari was not relieved of his duties as an imam in the Meccan Mosque, especially since the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques did not issue any official statements indicating that Sheikh Yasser Al-Dosari was relieved of his duties in the Meccan Mosque.
Who is Sheikh Yasser Al-Dosari?
Sheikh Yasser bin Rashid bin Hussein Al-Wadaani Al-Dosari, is the imam and preacher of the Grand Mosque and a Saudi Qur’an reciter. He was born in Al-Kharj Governorate, Saudi Arabia, on August 6, 1980, Ramadan 24, 1400 AH.
The positions he held included: Imam and preacher of the Grand Mosque: since October 12, 2019. Imam of Tarawih and Tahajjud prayers in the Grand Mosque: from June 15, 2015 to October 12, 2019 – Safar 13, 1441 AH.
He is also the imam of a number of mosques in Riyadh, Abdullah Al-Khulaifi Mosque, Al-Kawthar Mosque, Imam Abdullah bin Saud Mosque for five years, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Baz Mosque, Al-Dakhil Mosque, and he was general supervisor of Al-Himm Women’s School for Quran memorization in the same mosque.
Sheikh Yasser Al-Dosari received a Bachelor’s degree in jurisprudence from the College of Sharia at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, a master’s degree and a doctorate in comparative jurisprudence from the Higher Judicial Institute of the same university, and on June 6, 2022, he obtained a qualifying degree for a professorship in jurisprudence from Umm Al-Qura University.
