Today (Tuesday) the players of the Bnei Yehuda soccer team arrived at the “Returning to Life” rehabilitation center for the war wounded at Tel Hashomer Hospital to visit the war wounded hospitalized there. The players, Eliran Atar, Shahar Hirsch, Motti Barschatsky and Eden Otchi visited Amit Hevroni, a fighter in the paratrooper patrol and an ardent fan of the team.
Amit was injured during a combat operation near the “Nazar” hospital where terrorists broke into the apartment where Amit and his friends were staying, the terrorists threw grenades and shot at Amit and his staff. Amit was taken by helicopter to the “Hadasa” hospital and after the first surgery he was transferred to the rehabilitation department and later he will have to undergo another surgery.
Amit is an avid soccer fan, played in the youth divisions of Maccabi Tel Aviv and Kiryat Shmona, and is an ardent fan of Bnei Yehuda and together with his father Shai used to come to watch the team’s games. Even when Amit stayed in Gaza for a long time without his personal phone, he would bother to update himself on the team’s results through letters from the family.
Eliran Atar, the captain of the team, said: “The privilege that fell to us to meet Amit is tremendous. A true hero, an amazing boy with a captivating smile. I am sure that he will go through the rehabilitation and succeed in the best possible way. We were very happy to meet him, and to hear his story that simply sends chills Amit is part of the Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv family and we are already waiting to see him in the stadium again, and to be our guest of honor in the dressing room.”
