Black market confusion

The price of the dollar on the black market today
The Egyptian pound continues to rise significantly against the dollar, in the parallel market, where it rose yesterday by about 5 to record 36 pounds to the dollar, and in some areas it recorded 34-35 pounds.
This decline comes against the backdrop of the influx of funds from the first tranche of the Ras al-Hikma deal worth $15 billion, which includes an Emirati deposit worth $5 billion that was transferred to the pound at the Central Bank of Egypt, along with another $10 billion that was transferred from the UAE to Egypt, while the second tranche amounts to $20 billion. Egypt will receive it within two months.
Ruin on the black market
The dollar had touched the level of 70 pounds in Egypt, before the official announcement of the “Ras El Hekma” deal, as the deal and expectations of new investment and financing flows contributed to bringing the expected price range closer to levels lower than expectations before the deal.
Markets are awaiting the Central Bank’s new float for the pound, along with a subsequent step to raise interest rates.
