On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the French Cultural Institute in Mounira, in cooperation with Wasla Arts, is organizing a workshop Contemporary dance Open to those interested in expressing their challenges through movement, the workshop is trained by movement designer Doaa Fatfat and is offered free of charge, and will take place on Friday, March 8, at 1:30 p.m.
The workshop provides a safe and inclusive space where male and female participants can use contemporary dance as a form of self-expression to express their personal challenges and experiences. The workshop aims to promote psychological peace, self-empowerment and community spirit through dance.
Contemporary dance is a type of dance that is not limited to a set of specific techniques, thus covering a variety of genres, rhythms, forms and performances. For this reason, it is considered an abstract and ever-changing dance.
This dance mode developed in the mid-20th century, became popular in the 1980s, and its growing popularity is justified, in part, because this type of dance does not adhere to classical aesthetic standards.
