The topics of the Third International Conference of the Surgical Eye Hospital focused on retinal diseases, vitreous surgery, glaucoma, and plastic surgery. And refraction, cornea, pilgrims, and around children, which is held at the Al-Assad National Library in Damascus.

A number of Arab and foreign doctors will participate in the conference via live video lectures, in addition to practical lectures on pupil implantation in which a number of Syrian consultants will participate, targeting doctors residing in Syria to present the latest developments in this medicine and its surgery.

In his speech, the Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghobash, explained that the Ministry pays all attention to sponsoring conferences and scientific demonstrations to be a means of communication, integration, and concerted efforts, which opens a wide scope for exchanging experiences, information, and ideas, and learning about new things in ophthalmology.

Dr. Al-Ghubash pointed out that the number of in-kind services provided for free or almost free during the past year amounted to approximately 100,000 specialized in-kind services, including more than 11,000 surgical operations, through 29 hospitals, 3 of which were specialized in Damascus, Homs, and Aleppo, in addition to Many health centers provide services related to ophthalmology.

In turn, the Director of the Eye Surgical Hospital, Dr. Rana Omran, stated that despite the siege and the current circumstances, we held an international conference, with the aim of development and continuing medical education, which allows doctors to see international developments in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, pointing to the services provided by the General Authority for the Eye Surgical Hospital in Damascus. With a free rate of more than 60 percent, the ambulance service is available around the clock and free of charge for all segments.

Omran pointed out that the Eye Surgical Hospital in Damascus is the main center accredited by the Arab and Syrian Boards for training resident and subspecialty doctors in the specialty of ophthalmology and surgery, with the presence of more than a hundred resident ophthalmologists, thirty sub-opthalmologists, and twenty specialist and consultant ophthalmologists.

From Jordan, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Salem, a consultant in eye diseases and surgery, highlighted the importance of exchanging experiences to raise the level of expertise among Arab countries, noting that in his lecture he addressed orbital surgery, its tumors, eyelid beautification and its problems, reviewing innovative modern methods for dealing with injuries that occur behind the eye, which makes it atrophic and how to inflate it. .

Dr. Marwan Ghabra, an ophthalmologist residing in Britain, said: He will present in tomorrow’s sessions four lectures on keratoconus and an invention he made to repair keratoconus and change eye color, indicating the importance of exchanging experiences between local doctors and foreign doctors, which is reflected in improving the medical service provided to the patient and the results of treatment in a way. general.

For his part, the head of the cosmetic, orbital and eyelid department at the Eye Surgical Hospital, Dr. Jihad Nawilatti, pointed out the importance of the conference in terms of increasing information, especially since all the participants are at high scientific levels, pointing out that his participation included talking about eye cosmetics and the practical practices of resident doctors and introducing them to the errors that occur.

The conference, which continues next Saturday, will be accompanied by a specialized exhibition in which a number of medical and pharmaceutical companies will participate, in which the latest medical equipment will be displayed, in addition to different types of medicines.
