An Iraqi university referred a student for investigation because she placed a picture of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein on her graduation cap, after the video was widely circulated on “X,” formerly Twitter.
Users of the platform posted the clip that showed the student wearing a picture of Saddam Hussein on top of her hat during her graduation ceremony from Al-Rafidain University College.
The university said in a statement published on its Facebook page: “Based on the legal powers and in accordance with the contexts stipulated in the Student Discipline Instructions and Law No. 32 of 2016, it has been decided to refer the student in the Department of Medical Laboratory Technology who appeared in the circulating graduation clip to the investigative committee due to her involvement.” By committing a legal prohibition related to promoting the deceased Baathist tyrant,” she said.
