Today (Friday), the Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip announced that 5 people were killed and others were injured as a result of civilian aircraft “erroneously” dropping aid in the northwest of Gaza City.
Gaza Civil Defense spokesman, Mahmoud Basal, explained in a brief statement that the aid “fell on the heads and homes of citizens,” without going into further details.
The government media office in Gaza criticized the airdrop operations, describing them as “useless” and not the ideal method, according to what was reported by the Arab World News Agency.
The office said in a statement: “We repeat what we mentioned previously that the operations of dropping aid in this way take on a showy and propaganda character rather than a humanitarian, humane and service character, and what we previously warned about occurred today, that it poses a death threat to the lives of citizens in the Gaza Strip.”
The media office called for the opening of land crossings to bring in thousands of tons of aid immediately “to prevent the deepening of famine in the Gaza Strip, especially in the Gaza and North governorates.”
