The 46-year-old was discovered on Wednesday night under his apartment in the wealthy 16th district of the city.
Antidepressants were found inside Barry’s locked apartment, where she lived alone.
Barry studied fashion but then changed his focus to photography. She opened an addiction treatment facility near Paris because of her drug and alcohol problems.
Filippetti noted that Barry was an excellent photographer whose “sense of light and composition was very pictorial”, adding that “her fragility touched us.”
In a previous interview, Kate Barry mentioned how she first became interested in photography as a young child because of Serge Gainsbourg’s Polaroid.

Barry struggled with drug and alcohol addiction for many years; the problem started when she was a teenager.
She established the nonprofit organization Aide et Prévention des Toxicodépendances par l’Entraide (APTE) in the early 1990s to help drug users get through therapy well. This organization helped her stay sober for years.
In what was believed to be a suicide, Barry left her on December 11, 2013, after falling from her fourth-floor apartment in Paris’ 16th arrondissement.
Later, her sister Charlotte Gainsbourg dismissed claims that Barry had committed suicide, saying: “I want to think it’s an accident.”
However, she acknowledged that it was difficult to determine whether Barry had died by accident or on purpose. Barry was laid to rest in Paris.

Birkin has previously stated that her eldest daughter Kate resembles her the most. She works with photography. She started taking pictures of her sisters using a Polaroid camera when she was very young.
In this year’s September issue of Vanity Fair, when asked about her greatest achievement, Jane Birkin replied: “My three girls and personally lasting so long in this profession of limited talent.”
