Andrew Austin, a member of the Kaysville Fire Department, has been jailed on suspicion of luring a child and other related child pornography offenses.
A Kaysville City firefighter was detained yesterday at the fire station on suspicion of involvement in child pornography. His employment with the City of Kaysville has been terminated due to the Kaysville Fire Department.

A Utah man was taken into custody Tuesday after he allegedly sent an officer inappropriate text messages and pictures while he thought the officer was a 13-year-old girl, police said.
According to court documents, the man is Roy, Utah resident Andrew Austin Leonard, 29. KSL TV received confirmation from the Kaysville Fire Department that Leonard was a member of their staff. Leonard sent the first message to law enforcement on Jan. 7 while posing as a young teenage girl on an undisclosed social media platform.

According to court records, Leonard also holds a special position of trust and regularly interacts with children, some of whom may be unresponsive.

Early on, when asked their ages, law enforcement responded, “13. How about you,” to which Leonard replied, “oh, Woah. I’m 20.” According to investigators, Leonard continued the conversation with the person he believed to be a 13-year-old girl and kept requesting photos of what the court documents described as a “small child.”
Leonard admitted as the conversation continued that he wasn’t sure the girl would like him when he was 29. According to the persona account, they should stop bothering him and leave him alone if he didn’t want to talk. “You don’t bother me at all,” Leonard replied.

Leonard began requesting nude photos and asking sexual questions. According to the records, Leonard allegedly sent inappropriate photos to the account he believed belonged to a young teenage girl and encouraged her to share inappropriate photos, telling her, “You can do it. Being brave

Leonard was arrested for dealing in substances dangerous to children and enticing a minor, both felonies.
When questioned by law enforcement at his workplace, Leonard admitted that the conversation he had with the minor girl had been “sexual” and that it had taken place there. Leonard’s actions are typical of those who actively seek to engage in illegal conduct with minors, the court documents allege.
