Within hours, the holy month of Ramadan will knock on the doors of those longing and eager to welcome the best months and days of God Almighty, the month of fasting, prayers, and good deeds, which is astronomically scheduled to fall on Monday, March 11, in Egypt and most Arab countries, according to astronomical calculations.
The crescent of Ramadan in Egypt
As for Egypt, the Egyptian Fatwa House announced the survey of the Ramadan crescent on Sunday, March 10, and announced the results of the Sharia sighting, and the findings of its Sharia and scientific committees spread across the governorates of the Republic.
According to astronomical calculations, the crescent of Ramadan for the year 1445 AH will be born in Egypt after the conjunction occurs at exactly 11:02 AM local Cairo time on Sunday 29 Shaban 1445 AH corresponding to 3/10/2024 AD (sighting day). Thus, the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan 1445 AH will be astronomically on Monday 3/11/2024 AD.
Ramadan crescent in Arab countries
The International Astronomy Institute revealed, in its report on the sighting of the crescent of the blessed month of Ramadan 1445 AH in the Arab world, that most Arab countries will sight the crescent of the month of Ramadan on Sunday, March 10, and the central conjunction will occur on that day at nine o’clock in the morning GMT, and the moon will set after sunset. In almost all regions of the Islamic world, many countries are expected to begin Ramadan on Monday, March 11.
The International Astronomy Institute report added: As for the possibility of seeing the crescent on Sunday, March 10, and based on all criteria for seeing the crescent published in peer-reviewed scientific research, it is not possible to see the crescent on that day from anywhere in the Arab and Islamic world, whether with the naked eye or using a telescope. While seeing the crescent moon is possible using a telescope from parts of the Americas, especially from the western parts.
The report revealed that, accordingly, for countries that require the correct sighting of the crescent from somewhere in the Islamic world, it is expected that these countries will begin the month of Ramadan on Tuesday, March 12.
