The General Secretariat of the European Council for Fatwa and Research announced today, Saturday, that next Monday is the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan, noting that tomorrow, Sunday, the 29th of Shaaban, is the completion of the month.
The General Secretariat explained in its statement that its announcement was based on accurate astronomical calculations, confirming the conjunction of the Ramadan crescent and the possibility of seeing it after sunset tomorrow, Sunday, in both South and North America on a large scale.
The European Council for Astronomical Research revealed that it is impossible to see the crescent of Shawwal on Monday, the 29th of Ramadan, in any region around the world using telescopes, specialized monitoring centers, or with the naked eye.
The European Council confirmed that the month of Ramadan will be completed in 30 days, noting that Wednesday, April 10, is the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
The European Council for Astronomical Research relied on the outcomes of the International Conference on Proving the Lunar Months among Sharia Scholars and Astronomical Calculators, which was organized by the International Islamic Jurisprudence Academy of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in 2012, in addition to the decisions of the International Hijri Calendar Unification Conference held in Istanbul in 2016, with the participation of more than From 70 countries.
The European Council relied on the most important items of the aforementioned Islamic conferences, which included proving the beginning of the month by a definitive means, stressing that astronomical calculations definitively prove the possibility of timing the correct crescent moon observation.
