Ukraine launched drone attacks on several Russian regions for the second night in a row, and more than 30 drones were destroyed in the air over the Voronezh region, officials said on Wednesday.
Alexander Gusev, the governor of Voronezh, which borders Ukraine, said via the Telegram app that “the risk of being attacked by marches still exists.”
He explained that last night witnessed “the monitoring and destruction of more than 30 drones by air defense systems in the region” and that “slight” damage was caused to infrastructure and residential homes.
In the Belgorod region, falling march debris damaged a gas supply line in one village and cut off electricity in other villages.
The Russian TASS news agency quoted local Russian authorities as saying that a Ukrainian drone attacked the Federal Security Service building in the Russian city of Belgorod on Wednesday.
She said that no injuries were recorded as a result of the attack, but the building was damaged.
Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Belgorod, which also borders Ukraine, said on the Telegram app that “there are no infections.”
Gladkov stated that four drones launched by Ukraine were destroyed over the area and that a number of homes were damaged in the town of Gubkin.
He added that Ukrainian forces opened fire on the town of Shebykino, wounding one person and destroying a power line there and in neighboring villages.
Roman Starovoit, governor of the Kursk region, said that air defense systems destroyed at least four drones launched by Ukraine. He did not provide any other details about the possible damage.
The governor of the Voronezh region said that air defense systems participated several times in repelling drone attacks, but there were no “repercussions on civilian targets” as a result of the attack.
On Tuesday, Ukraine carried out an attack on Russian targets with dozens of drones and missiles, causing severe damage to a major oil refinery. The attack witnessed an attempt to penetrate the land borders of the largest nuclear power in the world with armed elements.
Two dead in Ukraine
On the other hand, Ukrainian officials announced on Wednesday that at least two people were killed in Russian attacks with drones and bombs last night, in the Sumy and Donetsk regions in eastern Ukraine.
Vadim Velashkin, governor of the Donetsk region, said via the Telegram app that the Russians dropped a bomb on the town of Mirnohrad in the region, killing two people and wounding five.
The regional military administration in Sumy said that human losses resulted from a Russian drone targeting a residential building last night.
The administration said that 30 apartments in a five-story residential building were damaged, and 15 of them were largely destroyed.
Officials said that ten people were rescued from the rubble, eight of whom were injured.
Late Tuesday, a Russian missile hit two residential buildings in the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih, killing four and wounding at least 50 others.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who was born and raised in the city, praised the rescue teams via Telegram and vowed to hold Russia accountable.
