Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef caused a public uproar this week after he announced in his Shabbat night class that if conscription was imposed on the ultra-Orthodox public, multitudes of ultra-Orthodox “will get on a plane and leave the country.” Following the widespread criticism that his words provoked, this evening (Wednesday) he will be the first to arrive in Zion for the satire show when his character will be played by the actor Yaniv Biton who regularly portrays the chairman of the Shas party Aryeh Deri as well as other characters identified with the Shas party.
Hundreds of ultra-Orthodox members signed a petition against the imitation
In the promo published today for the program, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef is seen when he “realizes” the threat and boards a plane at Ben Gurion Airport. Even before the show aired, hundreds of ultra-Orthodox people signed a petition protesting the mocking imitation, but as mentioned it will be aired already tonight.
