Erdogan’s first comment on the death and injury of a number of his guards

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan commented on the accident involving his protection crew in Şırnak Province, southeast of the country.

Speaking at the Mardin rally, Erdogan said: “I wish God’s mercy for the police officer who lost his life in the traffic accident that occurred after our visit to Sirnak, and I wish a speedy recovery for our injured officers.”

In turn, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya expressed his condolences to the family of Dir, who lost his life in the accident, and included in his condolence message the following statements:

“Police officer Firat Der, who was part of the staff of the Sirnak Intelligence Directorate, was martyred as a result of a traffic accident he was involved in with the car he was driving towards Nusaybin Road in Sirnak Province. May God have mercy on him, our martyr. I extend my condolences to his bereaved family, to our heroic police department, and to our nation.”

Previously, Turkish media reported that one of Erdogan’s guards died today, and 3 others were injured, in a traffic accident during the Turkish President’s visit to Şırnak Province, southeast of the country.

The media reported, citing the Turkish authorities, on Wednesday, that a security man from the guard of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan died, and 3 other people, including two presidential guards, were injured during an accident they were exposed to.

The authorities confirmed that the accident occurred during Erdogan’s tour in Sirnak Province, southeastern Turkey, pointing out that the team that was involved in the aforementioned accident was among the crews working to secure and protect Turkish President Erdogan’s convoy in Sirnak, southern Turkey.

The authorities explained that there is still no additional information about the accident that occurred to the guard crew other than that it was a traffic accident.
