After the disappointment in Indian Wells: Novak Djokovic made a dramatic decision

Ranked number one in the world, Novak Djokovic has parted ways with coach Goran Ivanisevic. The legendary Serbian announced on social media: “Goran and I decided to stop working together a few days ago. Our chemistry on the court had its ups and downs, but our friendship was always strong.”

Despite Djokovic’s dignified farewell message, in which he also made sure to emphasize that he “loves” the Croatian coach, the Serbian media claim that beneath the surface things between Nola and the coach have gone awry in recent times.

In “Mundo” it was written that the coach and the Serb had quite a few fights on the court and that the Croatian “found out about Djokovic’s decision during the Masters in Indian Wells, from where he returned with the knowledge that he would no longer be the coach of the Serbian tennis player, when the early elimination and the unexpected defeat to Luka Nardi didn’t help.”

Tennis reporter Jose Morgado claimed: “It was a period of big decisions and changes for Djokovic. At the end of last year he stopped working with his old agent and now with Goran. It will be interesting to see if he brings in an experienced coach for the rest of his career.”

Ivanisevic and Djokovic started working together during Wimbledon 2019, and together they won 9 Grand Slams (although Goran does not count Wimbledon 2019 as “his”), 9 Masters titles and six other tournaments, breaking many records along the way.
