English Steven Gerrard, coach of the first Al-Ettifaq football team, placed Ivorian Sekou Fofana on the list to face Al-Ahly, on Friday, according to what private sources revealed to Al-Riyadiya.
According to the same sources, Fofana joined the team’s camp in a hotel in the Eastern Province in preparation for the match with Al-Jeddawi, in the 25th round of the Saudi Roshen League.
Fofana, 28 years old, had suffered a peritoneum injury, as a result of which he was excluded from his country’s national team camp during the “FIFA Days.”
In addition, the Eastern team concluded its preparations to face Al-Ahly with an evening training session on Thursday, which witnessed the participation of the Dutchman Georginio Wijnaldum, the Scottish Jack Hendry and Majid Duran, the Saudi Olympic team player, after they finished their international participations.
The Englishman, Gerrard, began the training with a technical meeting in the meeting room, after which he imposed preventive exercises in the gym, followed by a warm-up and box training across two groups, and concluded with a focus on the tactical aspects.
