Books – Mahmoud Abdel Rahman:
For the fifth day in a row, thousands of demonstrators gathered in Jordan today, Friday, to express their solidarity with the people of the Gaza Strip and their denunciation of what they described as genocide and the use of violence against Palestinians who live in harsh conditions between repeated bombings and starvation policies pursued by the occupation.
Protests have continued in the capital, Amman, and other Jordanian cities for 174 consecutive days since the start of the war on the Gaza Strip, with participants demanding the complete severing of relations with Israel, including the cancellation of the Wadi Araba Peace Agreement that was signed in 1994, in addition to stopping the exchange of trade and goods. To pressure the occupation into a ceasefire.
The demonstrations in Amman and other cities today, Friday, witnessed widespread participation, as the demonstrators called for an end to the massacres in Gaza and denounced the United States’ pro-Israel positions in its war on the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” in the besieged Gaza Strip. The protesters who gathered near the American embassy west of Amman raised the Friday prayers, banners bearing some phrases including “Stop the massacre in Gaza” and “Resistance is our path to liberation and return.”
A number of other demonstrators carried banners denouncing the United States of America and Israel, bearing the flag of the Israeli occupation, the European Union, and the American flag, with the words “Alliance of Terrorism,” while a number of demonstrators carried pictures of US President Joe Biden with a shoe on his face and the words “America is the Head of Terrorism.”
