Benjamin Netanyahu undergoes general anesthesia for hernia surgery

A statement from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said he will undergo surgery Sunday to treat a hernia that his doctors discovered “during a regular checkup.” While his deputy, who also holds the position of Minister of Justice, Yariv Lavin, will assume the position of Prime Minister during the period of the operation.

He will submit Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu On Sunday, he will undergo surgery to remove a hernia, according to his office, noting that he will be fully anesthetized.

The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed in a statement, “During a routine examination conducted on Saturday evening, the 74-year-old Prime Minister was diagnosed with a hernia.”

This, and his deputy, who also holds the position of Minister of Justice, Yariv Lavin, will assume the position of Prime Minister during the period of the operation.

Netanyahu, the longest-serving prime minister in Israel’s history, is facing one of the biggest crises in the country’s history since the unprecedented attack launched by Hamas inside the Hebrew state on October 7, to which Israel responded by igniting a war in the Gaza Strip, which has been under Hamas control since 2007.

It is noteworthy that Netanyahu was hospitalized last July to undergo a pacemaker implantation procedure at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer.
