Dieng flies to Mali to attend his father’s funeral after Al-Ahly’s approval

Al-Ahly player Aliou Dieng left Cairo heading to his country during the past hours, in order to attend the funeral of his father, who passed away yesterday, after obtaining the approval of the technical staff of the Red Team to travel to his country.
Dieng will miss participating in Al-Ahly matches due to a knee cartilage injury and surgery a while ago in Austria, where he continues to perform his rehabilitation program with his team.

Al-Ahly Club mourned the death of the father of Mali Aliou Dieng, the Red Team midfielder.

The official page of the Al-Ahly Club published on Twitter a statement of obituary for Dieng, in which it said: “The President of Al-Ahly, the members of the club’s board of directors, and the football sector extend their sincere condolences to the player Aliou Dieng on the death of his late father, praying to the Almighty God that the deceased may rest in his vast mercy and inspire his family and relatives patience and solace.”

Al-Ahly achieved an important victory away from home by defeating Simba with an unanswered goal, scored by Ahmed Nabil Kouka in the fifth minute of the match that brought together the two teams in the first leg of the African Champions League quarter-finals.

Al-Ahly and Simba will meet at 10 pm next Friday at Cairo Stadium in the second leg of the quarter-finals to reserve a ticket to the semi-finals.
