Abha’s first football team achieved its first victory over its counterpart Al-Fateh after an absence that lasted 897 days, after defeating them with a score of “2-1”, in the match that took place on Sunday at the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium in Al-Mahalla, within the 27th round of the Saudi Roshan League.
The southern team owes this victory to Polish midfielder Jejusz Krychowiak, who opened the scoring with a quick goal in the 6th minute, before adding the second in the 57th minute, and dampening Al-Fateh’s joy with the equalizing goal scored by Spaniard Cristian Tio in the 54th minute.
With this result, Abha compensated for its absence from victory against Al-Fateh in the last 4 confrontations between them (losing 3 and drawing once), specifically since October 23, 2021, when it won 3-1 in the league competitions the season before last. It also healed its wounds after the harsh loss to Al-Nasr 0-8 in the last round.
The Southern team raised its score to 25 points, thus climbing two places, as its ranking became 15th at the expense of Al-Akhdooud (24 points), which fell to 16th place, the first place in the relegation.
On the other hand, Al-Fateh suffered its tenth loss in the current edition of the league, and the first after two consecutive wins, so its score froze at 37 points in seventh place.
