Al-Ittihad qualified for the Saudi Football Super Cup final with a 2-1 victory over Al-Wahda in the match that was held at Al Nahyan Stadium in the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi, on Monday.

Karim Benzema gave Al-Ittihad the lead after just 55 seconds from the start, and Abderrazak Hamdallah then extended his team’s advantage in the 42nd minute.

The official account of the Saudi Super Cup stated that Benzema’s goal was the fastest in the history of the tournament’s matches, which began in 2013.

Al-Wahda player Faisal Fajr missed the opportunity to reduce the difference with a penalty kick in the first minute of stoppage time, before Hussein Al-Issa scored the only goal for his team moments before the final whistle with a shot from close range.

Al-Ittihad, the holder of the Saudi Professional League and Super Cup titles, will play in the final next Thursday with the winner of the match between Al-Hilal and Al-Nasr, which will be held later on Monday.
