This is why Bellingham did not join Manchester United
Manchester United legend, Bryan Robson, revealed Eric Cantona’s role in the failure to complete the Jude Bellingham deal for the Red Devils.
Manchester United tried to sign Bellingham when he was a player at Birmingham City, but Borussia Dortmund completed the deal for 25 million pounds.
Robson said in press statements: “It was really disappointing. We were in Carrington and Sir Alex Ferguson was there, but Eric and I met him, his mother and father, and we were talking away.”
He continued: “He was going to sign for Manchester United, but it seems that Cantona succeeded in convincing him to play for Borussia Dortmund. We did a bad job after the deal was within reach.”
Rio Ferdinand previously confirmed that the reason Bellingham refused to play for Manchester United was because he demanded guarantees of regular participation, which was rejected.
It is worth noting that Bellingham is Real Madrid’s top scorer this season, and is considered Carlo Ancelotti’s most important player.
