Spanish star Sergio Ramos revealed the reasons for his departure from the Seville team even though he joined them last season, amid press reports talking about the possibility of him moving to the Saudi Al-Nasr team to join his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
In a press conference in which he announced the reasons for his departure, the former Real Madrid captain said, “Thank you to the fans for the support. They made me feel at home like the first day. They were amazing and unique moments.”
He continued, “My contract ended and I felt things that I had not felt since my early years. Thanks also to Pepe Castro (club president) for his confidence in me. A wonderful phase of my life is ending.”
He said, “One of my goals for returning was that wound that remained open after I left the first time. I thank the fans who forgave my mistakes and welcomed me with respect and affection. I will leave with my conscience very clear.”
He continued, “He did not specify what he would do in the future. There are some other proposals that might be interesting, but I did not think about them. It is true that the United States has always caught my attention, but that does not mean anything because there is a lot that must be evaluated before making a decision.”
He concluded, “I am not thinking about retiring at all. I feel very good physically. Football is no longer just a performance. I have a hunger to continue playing and competing and I am in good health. I do not know whether I will continue for a year, two years, or 3 years.”
