Sheikh was born Muhammad Metwally Al-Shaarawy On April 15, 1911 AD, in the village of Dagados, Mit Ghamr Center in the Dakahlia Governorate in the Arab Republic of Egypt. He completed memorizing the Holy Qur’an at the age of eleven, and obtained the Al-Azhar primary certificate in 1923 AD. He entered the Al-Azhar Secondary Institute, and his interest in poetry and literature increased, and he gained a special status among His colleagues chose him as president of the Student Union and president of the Zagazig Writers Association.
After obtaining Al-Azhar High School, he did not want to continue his educational career, and did not want to join the university, but his father insisted that he complete his studies at Al-Azhar, and indeed he graduated from the Faculty of Arabic Language in 1940 AD.
And he chose Imam Al-Shaarawi Completing studies in the Arabic language major; To be his door to all legal sciences, in addition to the mastery that the Sheikh enjoyed in the arts of the Arabic language and its abilities, such as grammar, morphology, badi’, poetry compositions, oratory, fluency of the tongue, and clarity of statement.
Indeed, the Arabic language and its capabilities were his way of interpreting the Holy Qur’an, contemplating its verses, and conveying its meanings to the Muslim public in an easy, clear, and interesting way. Until the Imam became a landmark in the modern era of Islamic preaching, and people began to wait for his weekly talks in front of television screens and on the Holy Quran Radio.
