Al-Ahly, the African champion, announced the death of two female fans in a traffic accident after they attended the Alexandria Al-Ittihad match in the Egyptian Premier League at Borg El Arab Stadium on the outskirts of the coastal city of Alexandria yesterday, Tuesday.
Al-Ahly said on its website, “Al-Ahly Club, its Board of Directors, headed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib, and the executive management mourn with great sadness the death of the two female fans, Nourhan Nasser and Narges Salah (20 years old), after they attended the Al-Ahly and Al-Ittihad match, which was held at Burj Al-Arab Stadium, following a painful accident.
“We pray to the Almighty God to shower the two deceased with His vast mercy, admit them into His spacious gardens, and grant their families patience and solace.”
Al-Ahly, the defending champion, advanced to third place in the league after a 1-0 victory over its host Al-Ittihad of Alexandria, with a goal scored by Mahmoud Abdel Moneim (Kahraba).
Al-Ahly raised its score to 39 points from 17 matches, as coach Marcel Kohler’s team continued to chase the leaders, Pyramids, with 56 points, after playing six more matches.
