On Monday evening, Zamalek issued a statement announcing that it would not participate in the summit match, justifying this by “compelling circumstances” that prevented it. The club said in its statement that it would not participate in the match “due to the absence of the principle of equal opportunities established by the rules and principles of football.”

The Egyptian competition suffers from irregularity in programming matches and the failure to determine the rest of the postponed matches for the clubs, most notably Al-Ahly and Zamalek.
Zamalek issued a statement on June 17, in which it demanded an investigation into “flagrant arbitration violations” during its match against the Egyptian club, which ended with the latter winning by two clean goals.
The club also confirmed that it “will not participate in any of the second round matches of the league before the competing teams complete all the first round matches, according to the logical order away from personal interference.”
The statement also called for “the appointment of an impartial committee from outside the Board of Directors of the Football Association and the Club Association to reorganize and arrange the league matches in a way that ensures complete neutrality.”
