Days after the death of Dr Saleh Al-SheebiSheikh Abdul Wahhab bin Zain Al-Abidin Al-Shaibi received the key to the Holy Kaaba, to be the 78th ruler in charge of the Holy Kaaba.

The ceremony took place late on Monday evening, according to video clips published by the Saudi Al-Ekhbariya channel through its official account on the “X” platform.

Death had taken Dr. Saleh bin Zain Al-Abidin Al-Shibe, at the age of 79. He was the 77th custodian of the Kaaba since the conquest of Mecca, and the 109th since the era of Qusay bin Kilab. He was a descendant of the noble companion Shaiba bin Othman bin Abi Talha, whom the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, ordered after the conquest of Mecca that the custodianship (serving the Kaaba) should be in his descendants.

Sudhana means taking care of the Holy Kaaba and carrying out its affairs, such as opening and closing it, cleaning it, taking care of its visitors, washing it, etc.I dressed her And repair this cladding.

The Sudhana began with the Prophet of God, Ismail, the son of the Prophet of God, Abraham, peace be upon them, and after him it moved to ancient Arab families and tribes, until it reached the “Al Shaybah”, who held the keys to the Holy Kaaba and took care of it for several centuries.

The ruler is the only person who holds the key to the Holy Kaaba, and is responsible for everything related to its affairs, including changing its covering, washing it, perfuming it with perfume, opening it, and closing it.

The Kaaba is washed twice a year, the first on the 15th of Muharram, and the second on the first day of Shaaban. The interior wall of the Kaaba is washed with 45 liters of Zamzam water, 50 tolas of Taif roses, Cambodian oud, and luxurious amber spirit, using pieces of cloth moistened with Zamzam water mixed with rose oil. This process continues for approximately 4 hours.

According to tradition, the eldest person in the “Al Shaybah” family assumes the position of sadana, and an extended family meeting is held, after the third day of mourning, to hand over the task of the chief sadana to the oldest living male.

The former master, Sheikh Saleh, supervised the washing of the Kaaba more than 100 times, and has carried the key to the Holy Kaaba since assuming the mission. It is a key that reaches 35 centimeters in length and is made of iron, and it was changed several times in different Islamic eras.

The Al-Shaibi family keeps the key to the Kaaba in a special bag made of the Kaaba’s covering, and it is placed in a safe place in the house of the chief ruler. Upon his death, the bag and the key are transferred to the new chief ruler.
