Adam, born in Acre as Haim Cohen, studied acting at Beit Zvi and paved his way as a singer in the 1980s, among other things in the band Katam alongside Rafi Persky. He first became famous as one of Yizhar Cohen’s backing singers at Eurovision 1985, in which Israel participated with the song “Ola Ola”. After unsuccessfully trying to start a career in France, under the name Chris Leif, he broke through in Israel under the stage name Adam.
The first two albums, “Sud” and “Markoh Larkoh”, produced by Yizhar Ashdot, launched Adam’s status and were very successful, with a string of hits such as “In Moza”, “Matzater” (which was chosen as Kol Israel’s song of the year in 2018), ” “Secret” (which has since gained renewed success thanks to the innovations of Ronnie Doaney and Nuno) and “Sunrise on the Desert”, among others. Adam won tremendous admiration among teenagers, and even won the Festival four years in a row.
