CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheACC.com) – Four Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball players were selected Wednesday evening in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft, which was held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. With four first-round selections, the ACC tied for the most picks by any conference this season.
The second round of the 2024 NBA Draft will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, with ESPN televising.
The ACC extended its streak with at least one first-round selection to 36 consecutive years, dating back to the 1989 draft.
Pitt freshman guard Carlton “Bub” Carrington was the first ACC player taken off the board as a lottery pick, going No. 14 overall by the Washington Wizards via a proposed trade with the Portland Trail Blazers. He became Pitt’s fourth-ever lottery pick.
This marks the 16th straight year in which the ACC had a lottery selection. The ACC now has had 36 lottery selections over the last 16 years.
Duke freshman guard Jared McCain was selected No. 16 overall by the Philadelphia 76ers. Miami freshman guard Kyshawn George was taken with the 24th pick by the Washington Wizards via a proposed trade with the New York Knicks.
Virginia sophomore forward Ryan Dunn was chosen with the 28th pick by the Phoenix Suns via a proposed trade with the Denver Nuggets.
This also marks the 16th straight year in which the ACC finished with at least two first-round picks. The ACC is the only conference with multiple selections in every draft over the last 16 years (since 2009), totaling 88 draft picks in the span, which is 17 more than any other conference.
