The ministry revealed in a statement today that the new timings are as follows:
First: Opening dates Shops Daily during the period from the first of July 2024 AD until the end of the last Thursday of September 2024, at seven in the morning, with closing at exactly ten in the evening. The timing is increased on Thursdays and Fridays, and on holidays and official holidays, to close at eleven in the evening, thus making it The discount is only one hour compared to the applicable summer hours.
Second: The opening hours of the malls will be daily during the mentioned period starting at ten o’clock in the morning and closing at twelve o’clock midnight, provided that the timing is extended on Thursdays and Fridays and on official holidays and holidays to close at one o’clock in the morning.
Third: The opening hours of restaurants, cafes and bazaars will be daily during the mentioned period starting from 6:00 AM, and closing at exactly 12:00 AM, with the continuation of take-away services and home delivery of orders 24 hours a day for restaurants and cafes, with the timing being extended on Thursdays and Fridays and on official holidays and holidays to close at 1:00 AM.
Fourth: The opening hours of workshops and craft shops will be daily during the mentioned period as is currently the case in summer timings, starting at eight in the morning, and closing at seven in the evening. This excludes workshops located on the roads, gas stations, and those linked to urgent services for citizens, in order to preserve the provision of important services to them.
Fifth: As an exception to the new closing times for the aforementioned shops, grocery stores, supermarkets, warehouses and bakeries are exempt, taking into account the night activities of some shops such as fruit and vegetable shops, poultry shops, wholesale markets and pharmacies, taking into account the important services provided to citizens.
In the same context, Major General Hesham Amna, Minister of Local Development, indicated that the Supreme Committee for Public Shops Licensing will continue its meetings during the coming period to follow up on all developments related to implementing the new dates for shops and commercial malls.
Major General Hesham Amna called on owners of shops, restaurants, workshops, cafes and craft businesses to adhere to the opening and closing times of shops, noting that this decision comes within the framework of implementing the directives of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, to take the necessary measures to rationalize the use of electricity, which contributes to reducing the volume of imported petroleum products in light of the high temperatures and the unprecedented rise in electricity consumption rates.
The Minister of Local Development and Chairman of the Supreme Committee pointed out that this decision came as an exception for a temporary period to achieve a balance between the supreme interest of the state and the directives of the Prime Minister in this regard and the interest of citizens in practicing their commercial activities. Major General Hesham Amna also directed the executive bodies in the governorates to implement the new closing and opening times for shops, restaurants and shopping malls in coordination with the relevant authorities in the governorates.
