Austrian Interior Minister: Our country ranks third in the Global Peace Index

Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner confirmed that his country is one of the safest countries in the world and ranks third in the current Global Peace Index.

The Austrian police top the independently measured trust index and have the highest reputation among the population, Karner said, noting that the Interior Ministry is building on these successes in order to continue to ensure a safe and prosperous country in the future.

Karner pointed out the continued development of the Austrian police, by focusing on three main areas: personnel, equipment and organizational structure.

Karner pointed out that the growing security budgets have led to numerous improvements in equipment and facilities for employees since 2005, explaining that the Austrian police are characterized by stability and uncompromising in carrying out their tasks professionally in accordance with the Federal Constitution.

The Minister stated that the continuous development, modernization and professionalization of the Federal Police and its employees will continue in the future and will focus on the issues of digitization and cybercrime with all the tasks associated with them in terms of procurement, training and structural requirements.

It is noteworthy that the Global Peace Index is an annual report issued by the Institute for Economics and Peace in Australia, to measure the relative peacefulness of countries and regions and their economic impact, in consultation with an international team of experts, institutes and research centers worldwide.
