Cristiano Ronaldo joins YouTube, attracts over 16 million followers in less than a day

Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo launched a new YouTube channel yesterday, which has gained more than 16 million followers in less than 24 hours, as the captain of Saudi club Al-Nasr takes a new step to consolidate his global popularity.

Ronaldo launched his new channel, UR Cristiano, yesterday, Wednesday, and the number of subscribers exceeded one million people within the first 90 minutes only, then the number jumped to 5 million after 4 hours.

Within a day of launching the channel, it had 16.6 million subscribers, and its first video, “When I Met Cristiano Ronaldo,” posted just 20 hours ago, had garnered 11 million views.

This move reflects the 39-year-old athlete’s awareness of the importance of the content industry in supporting his popularity, legacy, and public image.

Ronaldo promised his followers that the channel will become a window into his life, and he will share content not only about football, but also his family, nutrition, health regime, business, and education.

“I have always enjoyed the strong relationship I have with my audience on social media, and my YouTube channel will give me more space to continue that, and to share more details about myself, my family, and my views on various topics,” he said in the video announcing the launch of the channel.
