Actress Samira Sedki revealed the reason behind her hiding the news of her marriage from the artistic community at first, explaining that she got married when she was 17 years old, noting that her husband was managing the Madboulyzm theater troupe at the time, so she decided to marry him so that she could join the troupe, especially since she loves acting.
“I loved acting at the time and there was no one in Egypt except my cousin, who is my late husband, for me to act with, and I married him because I was living in Alexandria and I traveled to Egypt and we got married there,” Sedky added during a phone call on the “Details” program with media figure Nahal Tayel, which is broadcast on Sada El Balad 2 satellite channel.
She pointed out that she is currently participating in the series “Joma”, directed by Mohamed El-Naqli and starring Mervat Amin and Reem El-Baroudi, and its duration is only 15 episodes, and she has also signed a contract for the series “Habiba”.
She continued that she was robbed by a child she raised in her home, explaining that he knew every little thing in the house and lived with her constantly, adding: “He had the keys to my safe and I had left 400 thousand pounds and a group of gold jewelry in it.”
“Sedki continued: “I was surprised after that that he made a copy of the house keys and he and his uncle and aunt entered the safe and took everything in it, and he asked my grandson to go with him to the cafeteria until his family robbed me, and then I returned home and found the safe open and everything in it was gone.”
She added: “Then the police came while he was making coffee and found the guy’s hand shaking. He took his phone and found that there was only one call. He called his uncle from 1 o’clock until 3 o’clock, but they brought the money after that and it turned out to be a little short. After that, I dropped the report. I don’t want my rights and I dropped them.”
She said that she does not need a man in her life, as she is a self-made person and does not like anyone to control her life, explaining that Mohamed Ramadan’s films made young people learn “bullying”, and this is not a success in itself.
She continued: “What should I do with a man? Should I bring someone to control me? Should I manage or be managed? I am the one who runs my life the way I want. Why should I bring someone to control me and tell me to do this and not to do that? What do I need a man for?”
She pointed out that she refuses to marry again after the death of her husband, as she considered him as a brother, father and friend to her, commenting: “I never took my bag of clothes and got angry in my father’s house, and I never told him to divorce me because I deal with him naturally, and sometimes a man or woman puts a mask on their personality and after marriage they are surprised by the other personality.”
“Sedky” talked about the title “seduction star” that some people used to give her in the past in her works, because she used to dance in her films, adding, “Seduction was never about stubbornness, it was about embodying the camera or the look in the eye and the actor’s feelings.”
Samira Sedki concluded: “I want to act with Karim Abdel Aziz, Yasmine Abdel Aziz, Mona Zaki and Ahmed Helmy. I don’t want to work with Mohamed Ramadan, and I respect him, but there are young people holding swords and slashing each other because they imitate him in his works. This is not success. It is ruining generations.”
