Veteran Argentine star Lionel Messi scored two goals in his first match after recovering from injury, leading his team, Inter Miami, to a 3-1 victory over Philadelphia Union, early Sunday morning, in the American Professional League.

Messi has not played a match since suffering an ankle injury in the Copa America final against Colombia last July.

Messi scored two goals and made another for his Uruguayan teammate Luis Suarez to lead Inter Miami to an exciting victory.

Michael Oher put Philadelphia ahead after two minutes, but Messi equalized for Inter Miami in the 26th minute after a pass from Suarez.

Four minutes later, Messi scored his second goal with a shot from 15 yards, before providing an assist for Suarez, who scored the third goal in stoppage time.

During Messi’s absence, Inter Miami won 8 times out of 10 matches, and booked its place in the playoff round.
