Coach Saad Al-Shehri revealed a surprise regarding the technical staff of the Saudi Al-Hilal team, led by the Portuguese Jorge Jesus.
Al-Shehri said on the Saudi channel that the Portuguese coach brought in an assistant who specializes in developing the explosive power of Al-Hilal players, which is a major qualitative shift, and its effects appeared in the current season.
He explained that Al Hilal suffered from this point last season clearly due to some physical deficiencies, which made Jesus resort to this step to support his team and develop the players physically in the required manner and develop the player’s explosive power.
He pointed out that what is meant by explosive power is getting a fast rhythm from the players in the first three metres when receiving the ball.
He stressed that Al Hilal relies on a different style of play this season, not based on possession and building attacks at a calm pace, but rather plays at a remarkable speed in offensive preparations.
He added, “Al Hilal reaches its opponents’ goal with few touches, which is a major development that contributes to tiring its opponents, because it creates many opportunities on the opponent’s goal, and all of these things came as a result of the diligence and hard work on the part of the technical staff to develop the players and increase harmony between them.”
Al Hilal won its first three matches in the Saudi League against Al Akhdoud by three goals to none in the first round, then beat Damak by 3-2 in the second round, then beat Al Riyadh away from home by three goals to none.
