The Central Bank of Egypt participates in the “New Beginning for Human Development” initiative

Implementing pioneering projects in the fields of social responsibility and financial inclusion within 100 days

Projects include eliminating waiting lists, developing university hospitals, equipping the first national center for liver transplantation, developing technical schools, opening bank accounts without fees, microfinance, and financial awareness.

In implementation of the President’s directives to provide various programs, activities and services to facilitate citizens in all governorates, the Central Bank of Egypt, in cooperation with the banking sector, is participating in financing and implementing several priority projects in the areas of social responsibility and financial inclusion within the “New Beginning for Human Development” initiative launched today by the Ministerial Group for Human Development in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, and will continue for 100 days.

Mr. Hassan Abdullah, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, stated: “The Central Bank is keen to support the state’s development efforts in all fields by launching a set of pioneering initiatives to advance society and improve citizens’ standard of living. From this standpoint, our participation in the “New Beginning for Human Development” initiative comes to implement several promising projects with a tangible impact in the health, education and financial inclusion sectors, which contributes to achieving the goals of the initiative, which represents a model of fruitful cooperation between all state institutions to facilitate citizens.”

The Central Bank’s efforts in participating in the “New Beginning for Human Development” initiative include initiatives implemented through the social responsibility sector and funded by the banking sector, including health and education projects as follows:
The “Eliminate Waiting Lists” initiative, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the “Medical Emergencies and Treatment of Genetic and Rare Diseases Fund”, to install stents and catheters, perform open-heart surgeries, provide 4,000 joints for orthopedic surgeries, cover corneal transplant surgeries in all governorates, and finance the cost of many surgical operations in various other specialties.

The “Development of University Hospitals” initiative, through financing new constructions, developing existing buildings, providing the necessary equipment and medical devices, in many university hospitals, including Cairo University, Ain Shams Medical City, and developing the National Cancer Institute.
Preparing, equipping and providing medical devices for the first national center for liver transplantation in Egypt and the Middle East affiliated with Mansoura University.
“Your Health is a Trust” initiative in cooperation with the Baheya Foundation for early detection of breast tumors.
Contributing to the initiative to develop 100 technical schools for applied technology in cooperation with the Federation of Egyptian Industries and the Ministry of Education.
An initiative to provide scholarships (full and partial) at a number of Egyptian universities.

The Central Bank’s participation in the “New Beginning for Human Development” initiative extends to include many activities implemented through the financial inclusion sector, including the financial inclusion activities approved by the bank during September, October and December 2024, as well as through the banking sector’s participation in the “Decent Life” initiative, which allows banks to be present outside their branches in all governorates of the republic, and to carry out many activities, including opening accounts without fees and without a minimum limit, issuing prepaid cards, opening mobile phone wallets, and also promoting banking products and providing financing for micro-projects, in addition to organizing various activities for financial awareness and education in coordination with relevant ministries, agencies and bodies.
