The Houthi militia in Sana’a kidnapped the writer and journalist Mohammed Al-Mayahy, days after he wrote writings criticizing the militia and its leader, Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi.
Local sources said that the militia stormed Al-Mayahy’s house, confiscated his phone and computer, and took him to an unknown location, coinciding with a kidnapping campaign targeting political leaders and activists on the grounds of their rejection of its project and their calls to celebrate the anniversary of the September 26 Revolution.
Al-Mayahhi had harshly criticized the militia, calling for adherence to rejecting its sectarian project and resisting it in all possible ways.
In the same context, the Houthi militia kidnapped an activist in Ibb Governorate, due to his calls to celebrate the anniversary of the glorious September 26 Revolution.
Local sources said that the militia kidnapped activist Yahya Al-Jaashani in the city of Ibb, a day after kidnapping Sheikh Amin bin Hassan Rajih, one of the sheikhs of Ibb, after storming his house in Sana’a, for the same reason.
Since the beginning of this month, the Houthi militia has launched a wide kidnapping campaign in several governorates, to prevent any popular celebration of the anniversary of the September 26 Revolution, which the militia fears will turn into a popular movement against it.
The government described the Houthi kidnapping campaigns that targeted leaders of the General People’s Congress and activists, against the backdrop of their calls to celebrate the anniversary of the September 26 Revolution, as a dangerous escalation.
Minister of Information Muammar Al-Eryani condemned the kidnappings carried out by the militia against political leaders, journalists and activists, aimed at terrorizing them and preventing them from conveying the facts to public opinion, and dissuading them from adopting people’s issues and demands.
Al-Eryani called on the international community, the United Nations, the UN envoy, and human rights organizations to condemn these criminal practices and pressure the Houthi militia to release the abductees and all those forcibly detained.
