The Spanish Football Federation announced today, Sunday, the exclusion of player Lamine Yamal from coach Luis de la Fuente’s national team camp, justifying this in an official statement by “avoiding any risk of injury.”
Yamal participated yesterday, Saturday, in Spain’s 1-0 victory over Denmark in the third round of the group stage in the European Nations League competitions, while he left around the 90th + 3rd minute.
Yamal excluded from the Spanish camp
The Spanish Football Federation issued a statement revealing Yamal’s return to his team, FC Barcelona.
The Euro 2024 champion’s statement said: “Yamal underwent an MRI to evaluate the pain he felt after the Denmark match.”
He stressed that the tests confirmed that Yamal was not injured, while the Spanish national team’s medical staff believed that what the player felt was nothing more than a mere muscle strain.
He added: “It was decided to exclude Yamal from the Serbia match in order to preserve the player’s health and to avoid any risk of injury.”
In a related context, the Spanish national team announced the recall of Rodrigo Riquelme from Atletico Madrid to replace Yamal.
It is noteworthy that the Spanish national team will face Serbia the day after tomorrow, Tuesday, in the fourth round of the European Nations League groups.
