We supported American air strikes on Houthi positions

Australian officials confirmed that their country supported air strikes carried out by American fighters on Houthi positions this week.

Reuters quoted them as saying that American planes flew through Australian airspace and carried out strikes on underground Houthi sites.

They stressed that this shows the extent of military cooperation between the two countries, and that it is consistent with the long-term commitment to the alliance and close cooperation with Washington.

The United States announced that it carried out strikes on Wednesday on 5 underground weapons storage sites in areas under Houthi control.

She noted that the strikes used long-range B-2 bombers for the first time.

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin explained that the strikes involved B-2 bombers, which are distinguished by their ability to carry huge quantities of ammunition, giving them superior destructive power compared to other aircraft.

He pointed out that the Houthis will face consequences for their illegal and reckless attacks, stressing that Washington will not hesitate to take any measures to deter attacks and protect freedom of navigation.

Retired Admiral Robert Moret – from the US Navy – confirmed that the Houthis have other weapons stores that require their elimination, and that the Pentagon has placed these goals among its priorities.

The American expert referred to the recent American strikes using B-2 bombers, stressing that using this type of aircraft is more effective compared to using drones.

He explained that what the United States has implemented so far in the Red Sea are defensive positions targeting ammunition depots and Houthi leadership positions.
