Nova survivor Shiral Golan died at her home; The family claims: “The state did not look at her”

Tragedy in Moshav in Sharon: Shiral Golan, survivor of the Nova party massacre, died today (Sunday) in her apartment on her 22nd birthday. According to her family members, she suffered from post-traumatic stress following the difficult events that took place at the S7 festival in October. According to the family, she did not receive a satisfactory response to post-trauma from the state authorities. Shiral was the oldest daughter in the family. She is survived by her parents and four brothers and sisters

Eyal, Shiral’s brother, said: “On the morning of October 7th, after the alarms had subsided, I sent a message to the family group. She replied that everything was fine. My brother and I opened Hamal and directed her where to go. She got on a car with friends at first and at some point she got off. There was no bad intuition about the vehicle. It turned out that later everyone who was in the car was murdered. 11 people were murdered there. It was a death vehicle.
She got into a police car. He rescued her to Kfar Maimon and that’s how she was saved.”

The brother says that the family members noticed symptoms of post-traumatic stress: “I saw that she had symptoms of post-traumatic stress, such as avoiding and distancing herself from her friends. I asked her to go take care of herself. She said that she does not receive aid from the state. She said that she only gets aid from the Nova association.”

“She reached a state of depression. She was hospitalized twice at Lev Hasharon Hospital in Pardesia because no one from the state looked at her. She was not recognized as suffering from post-trauma from the Nova events. The state murdered Shiral. At Sukkot, last Thursday, we sat in the sukkah and I asked how she was feeling. She said she was fine. I gave her a hug and a kiss. I didn’t imagine it would be the last hug and kiss.”

Eyal adds: “The state needs to wake up. If the state doesn’t wake up, there will be more cases like this. If the state had taken care of her, none of this would have happened. I lost my sister, but I want to raise a voice of shouting so that others don’t lose their loved ones.”

Eyal also said that his sister was supposed to go with her parents to the Western Wall today to bless the priests: “She didn’t want to go out with them and said she wanted to continue sleeping. Today is her foreign birthday, so they sent her greetings on WhatsApp, but she didn’t respond. They tried to reach her and they didn’t succeed. They called To her ex and they asked him to go check what was going on with her, he came to her and saw that she had ended her life.”

The Ministry of Welfare and Social Security in response: “The Ministry of Welfare expresses deep pain over the untimely death of the Nova survivor, and shares in the grief of the family and the sorrow of the entire Nova community.
