The lack of fertilizers and production requirements is a priority for agriculture in the fifth session of the House of Representatives

I agreed Agriculture Committee During its meeting this evening, chaired by Representative Hisham Al-Hosary, Chairman of the Committee, the Committee’s work plan during the fifth regular session of the second legislative term was discussed.

The committee included a study of a number of important issues, including the phenomenon of fertilizer shortages, which are the most important requirements for agricultural production and the main determinant of crop productivity and farmers’ profitability in seasons of need, while studying the implications of the trend towards shifting to cash support.

The committee also agreed on the need to identify research efforts to shift to the use of biopesticides and expand biological control as an alternative to expanding the use of chemical pesticides to reduce their negative effects.

The committee’s plan also included a continuous review of the price equation for receiving all agricultural crops (wheat, sugar cane and beets, rice, maize, beans, cotton, sunflowers, soybeans) in proportion to the costs of growing these crops and announcing them sufficiently before the planting seasons to encourage farmers to Expanding agricultural areas to achieve food security, and achieving a balance between all parties of the system (producer – consumer) to prevent the phenomenon of monopoly while providing the commodity to consumers at reasonable prices.

It included activating the role of research centers in providing certified seeds from all crops (wheat, rice, corn) to farmers in the required quantities and quality at prices appropriate for cultivating their areas in order to preserve the productivity of the wheat crop, and reducing the phenomenon of growing broken seeds that leads to the deterioration of crop productivity.

It also included continuous follow-up of the problems of sugarcane and sugar beet growers with manufacturing companies, as they are the two main crops for producing sugar in Egypt, with the generalization of cultivation by seedlings and drip irrigation because of its impact on reducing costs and increasing productivity.

This comes in addition to studying the mechanisms of not linking the disbursement of fertilizers to farmers to the work of inventorying cultivated areas and linking the work of disbursing fertilizer shares to agricultural holdings, provided that a commitment is made to providing the farmers’ needs before the farming seasons.
