The Mahalla Misdemeanor Court announced the acquittal of Egyptian broadcaster Radwa El-Sherbiny of the charge attributed to her by a person of directing insults and slander at him, and fined his wife an amount of 5,000 pounds, after she appeared in an episode of the “She and Bas” program presented by El-Sherbiny in the case known in the media as “The Mahalla Husband.” “.
Counselor Jamil Saeed, the defense lawyer for the media personality Radwa El-Sherbiny, confirmed before the court that there was no criminal responsibility and no criminal intent, as it is based on a program that hosts all categories, and that if the guest causes any harm he speaks about, it will not be attributed to the broadcaster who is hosting him. As long as the rules of participation, incitement, or assistance are absent in the absence of criminal intent, criminal liability is excluded, so the court acquitted El-Sherbini.
One of the husbands had filed a complaint against his wife and Radwa El-Sherbiny, accusing them of insulting, slandering, and using obscene words that hurt him psychologically and morally. The wife claimed that her husband and his father had assaulted her by beating her during her pregnancy, and this is a shameful act that contradicts reality and the truth, according to the accusation.
“Al-Mahalla’s husband” said in his report that the journalist, Radwa El-Sherbiny, took advantage of her profession and work as a journalist to make statements that harmed his honor with the first accused, his wife, whom the court ruled to punish in the previous ruling.
