Ruud van Nistelrooy’s role as interim coach of Manchester United, competing in the English Premier League, ends with the arrival of Ruben Amorim, but goalkeeper Andre Onana said that the players want the Dutch coach to remain with the club.
Van Nistelrooy took over the job after Eric Ten Hag was dismissed from coaching the team. United did not lose in 3 matches under his leadership, and achieved a 2-0 victory over Greek PAOK in the European League yesterday, Thursday, making it their first victory in European competitions in more than a year.
Former Manchester United striker Van Nistelrooy said that he wants to remain within the club’s new management team after his mission as interim coach ends on Sunday with the scheduled match against Leicester City in the league.
Excellent.
When asked if United players wanted the same thing, Onana told TNT Sports: “100%. He is a very good man, a very good coach. He has a lot of experience and gives us a lot of advice.”
He continued, “He is doing a great job and the players are happy. But in the end, this is not our decision. The club is the one who makes the decision and we have to accept it.”
Van Nistelrooy stressed that his focus is currently solely on preparing the team for its final match under his leadership.
He concluded, “I’m busy with only one thing on my mind. I want to prepare for my last match as interim coach in the best possible way and give the players everything they need to deliver the best performance. Other than that, I don’t think much further.”
