The American team Inter Miami, led by Argentine star Lionel Messi, bid farewell to the MLS Cup finals, after losing to Atlanta United by a score of 3-2 in the round of 16.
Inter Miami took the lead through Matias Rojas in the 17th minute, and Atlanta United scored two goals through Jamal Thiari in the 19th and 21st minutes.
In the 65th minute, Messi scored the equalizer for Inter Miami with a wonderful header, but Atalanta scored in the 76th minute through Slices to snatch victory in the deciding match.
Inter Miami had won the first match against Atlanta United with a score of (2-1), but the latter forced a playoff match after winning the second match with the same score, forcing the two teams to enter a playoff match, which Messi’s teammates lost with a score of (3-2).
Lionel Messi’s dream of winning the title ended after he won the Supporters’ Shield for the club that scored the most points in the group stage.
