The injury of Real Madrid defender Eder Militao – today, Saturday – against Assuna sparked panic among the ranks of the Royal Club, whose defenses are already suffering from several absences due to injury.
Militao suffered a cruciate ligament tear, joining right-back Dani Carvajal, as they will be absent until the end of the season.
While the other defender, David Alaba, continues his recovery journey after suffering a cruciate ligament tear in December 2023, and he is expected to return within several weeks.
Militao’s injury is expected to leave Real Madrid’s defense in an additional fragile state.
While commenting on the match, which ended in a 4-0 victory for Real Madrid, Jose Maria Gutierrez (Guti), the former star of the Royal Club, on the “Dazone” broadcasting platform, suggested “the return of Sergio Ramos, the former captain, to strengthen the “Merengue” defenses.
Guti said, “Ramos is without a team, and he can play as a defender or right back. In this situation, I think it is logical given that it is a free deal, especially after he performed well in the ranks of Sevilla last year.”
He added, “If there is a player currently available on the market that you depend on for the next ten years, go and get him. But in December, you can sign a replacement player and wait for how things go. I think the choice is clear, and that is Ramos.”

He continued, “Ramos was the team’s captain, played last season (in La Liga), maintained his fitness, and could be useful during the remaining months of the season.”
Ramos is getting ready
A few minutes after Militao was injured, Ramos posted a video clip of him running and training on his Instagram account.
The Spanish newspaper AS reported that the coincidence of Ramos’ video with Militao’s injury was not a coincidence. He uploaded a video clip on social media to show him running and in his best condition, sending a message to the club that he is without a team and is ready to return.

The newspaper indicated that the comments on the video witnessed demands from Real Madrid fans to return him to the Bernabeu.
Ramos (38 years old) is not currently linked to any club, after his departure from Spanish club Sevilla at the end of last season.
Ramos’s name has been associated with moving to several clubs in the recent period, including American San Diego and Greek AEK Athens, in addition to Turkish Besiktas and Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad.
The veteran Spanish defender left Real Madrid for free in the summer of 2021 after 16 years spent with the Royal Club, to join the French ranks of Paris Saint-Germain.
