The 11th season of the next star for Eurovision 2025 opened tonight with a particularly moving moment that connected the trauma of October 7 with the healing power of music. On stage came Daniel Weiss, known as Degido, who came to the meeting with Assi Ezer and Rotem Sela barefoot, as he says he is used to from the kibbutz where he grew up. 29-year-old Weiss, a resident of Kibbutz Bari, told the facilitators his and his family’s experiences on October 7, when he was in one house and his parents in another house in the kibbutz.
“We perceive that there is an infiltration of the kibbutz, by terrorists,” explained Weiss. “The shots are starting to get closer. At ten in the morning we lost contact with the parents. I’m starting to see on the kibbutz’s app people saying they’re being shot through the door and they’re bleeding to death. You understand that these people, you won’t see them again.”
Weiss continued and shared the moments of horror when he realized that the terrorists had also come to his house: “We heard loud knocks on the door and screams and then we realized that the terrorists are in the apartment next to us. And I’m holding the door. I hope he doesn’t come in. A minute or two passes, we realized that he continues.”
Weiss and his brothers waited besieged for ten hours to be rescued. A week and a half later, they were informed of the death of the father of the family, who was murdered and found in a kibbutz, while his mother was kidnapped in Gaza. Her body was found about a month later in a trapped house in Shifa.
At the audition, Weiss decided to sing Benny Amdorski’s song “I am a guitar”, a song that his father especially loved and played at his funeral. Regarding the decision to reach the star, Weiss said: I saw in my mind’s eye my mother happy, dancing and happy and I realized that this was the right decision.”

The exciting contestant, who also went to the audition barefoot and accompanied by a guitar, made Iti Levy, Keren Pels and Shiri Maimon cry for a long time from his touching performance and raised the screen with 97%.
Assaf Amdorski, the son of the late Benny Amdorski, thanked Weiss for putting him back to the song his father recorded in his last days.

“I wish you would represent Israel in the next Eurovision,” Peles wished. In my opinion, you are the best singer who has been here in the three seasons I’ve been here,” concluded Ran Denkar.
