On Sunday, Riyadh hosted an Arab-Islamic ministerial meeting in preparation for the Arab-Islamic summit to discuss ways to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, according to what the Saudi Foreign Ministry reported.
The meeting was chaired by Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, and witnessed “a discussion of the agenda of the upcoming summit, and a discussion of the most prominent issues up for discussion.”
The Saudi newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat reported on Sunday, “The leaders of the Arab and Islamic countries are considering taking a unified position at their summit, which will be held on Monday, to stop the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, and ways to protect civilians and support the Palestinian and Lebanese people, in addition to unifying positions and putting pressure on the international community.” “To take serious action, to stop the ongoing attacks.”
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with absolute American support, has been waging a “genocidal” war on Gaza, resulting in more than 146,000 Palestinian deaths and injuries, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst Humanitarian disasters in the world.
Since last September 23, Israel has launched an aggression against Lebanon, “the most violent and widespread” since the confrontations with Hezbollah began more than a year ago, resulting in 3,189 dead and 14,078 wounded, including a large number of children and women, as well as About one million and 400 thousand displaced people, according to Anatolia’s monitoring of official Lebanese data as of Saturday evening.
