In the minds of some mothers, allergies are linked to a group of false beliefs, according to Dr. Zaur Khachukov, from the Department of Childhood Diseases at Pirogov Medical University.
Zaur confirmed that most mothers believe that any skin rash that appears on the child’s body after breastfeeding is evidence of an allergy, pointing out that this information is false.

He added that a rash does not necessarily indicate that the child has an allergy, urging mothers to consult a doctor to determine its exact cause, according to the Russia Today website.
He recommended that mothers stay away from foods that may cause allergies to the baby during the breastfeeding period, because there is a possibility that they may be transferred to breast milk.

Doctor Olga Tarasova agreed with him, adding: “If the doctor proves that the rash is the result of the child’s allergy to a certain type of food, the mother must exclude it from her diet for a period ranging between 6 and 24 months.”
Olga explained that the infant does not need to drink water, stressing that breast milk is sufficient to keep his body hydrated, because water constitutes 87% of its total nutritional value.
