The great artist presented Suhair Al-Babli Hundreds of roles in cinema, theatre, television, and radio. Throughout her life, she respected her art and was careful to choose her roles carefully. At the peak of her success in 1997, during the performance of the play “Attiya the Terrorist,” she decided to retire from art and wear the hijab, and she surprised everyone with this decision.
In previous statements, Al-Babli said about the decision to retire that she saw her only daughter, Nevin Al-Naqouri, who was very similar to her, wearing the hijab and keen to study, memorize and teach the Qur’an, so she decided to wear the hijab and retire in 1997.
Suheir Al-Babli used to meet with Sheikh Al-Shaarawy and Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud and ask a lot about matters of religion, and Sheikh Al-Shaarawy used to call her “Sakinana.” Al-Najma explained that the sheikh met her during Hajj and said to her: “And what would he do if you acted like me in this outfit and delivered a useful and purposeful message to the people? People will see.” “I go to the mosque more often on television, and I may hear more from you than from me.”
After her retirement for more than nine years, Suhair Al-Babli decided to return to acting with conditions. She presented the series “Qalb Habiba” in 2005, wearing the hijab. For many years, until her departure, the great artist remained keen to study the Qur’an, memorize it, and get closer to God, so much so that when her health condition deteriorated, it was on her tongue. Always remember God in the times when you wake up, and today was the seventh day before publishing the last audio recording of the late artist Suhair Al-Babli before… She died, as she was remembering and repeating the friendly name of God.
The recording appears in the recording of the voice of Dr. Reda Taima, the Islamic preacher and husband of Nevin Al-Naqouri, daughter of the late artist Soheir Al-Babli, as he speaks to the great artist, saying: “You will remember with us, Soska.” Suhair Al-Babli responds in the affirmative, then her daughter’s husband asks her: “What do you like in dhikr?”, so she says: “ God.” Then the great artist chanted with her daughter, her son-in-law, and her grandchildren, saying: “Oh Friendly, oh Friendly, oh Friendly, oh God.”
The great artist, Suhair Al-Babli, left our world on November 21, 2021, after a period of coma that she spent in the hospital. The coma included moments in which the great artist would wake up to repeat the name of God or pronounce the Shahada.
Dr. Reda Taima, the husband of the artist Suhair Al-Babli, said in special statements to “The Seventh Day” that the artist Suhair Al-Babli kept repeating before her passing, “There is no god but God and Muhammad is the Messenger of God.”
“Taima” revealed that the great artist, Suhair Al-Babli, was moving slightly and opening her eyes while he and her daughter, Nevin, were reading the Qur’an next to her.
The husband of the great artist’s daughter continued, saying: “We were reciting the response of Al-Busiri next to her in praise of the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, and she would open her eyes for a moment and look at us and smile. Even the nurses were amazed and stood with us repeating: My Lord, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, always, always be upon your beloved, the best of all creation.”
The artist’s son-in-law, Suhair Al-Babli, explained that she loved Burda Al-Bosiri, and always repeated it in the gatherings of praise of the Prophet, which the family used to organize with some of her friends who were memorizers of the Qur’an, and she was very happy when she repeated it in her beautiful voice.
He added: “Before Hajj Suhair entered the coma, she was repeating the phrase: O Friendly, O Friendly, O Creator, O Existent, pray for the Beloved and Beloved.”
